The Jayhawks part 3

Our third Jayhawks podcast episode features Gary Louris and Mark Olson reflecting on a pivotal moment in their history – when Olson quit the band after Tomorrow the Green Grass, and Louris moved on with a new lineups for three more albums – Sounds of Lies, Smile and Rainy Day Music. Producer Rick Rubin also comments.

Woodstock festival founders Michael Lang and Joel Rosenman kick off the 2 Minutes of Peace & Music series with their memories of what inspired the original event.

Legacy Podcasts celebrates the 40th Anniversary of Woodstock with 2 Minutes of Peace & Music – a 20 part series of short features with the inside story of the original 1969 Woodstock music festival.  Throughout the series, we’ll clips of music recorded live at Woodstock mixed with first hand accounts by many of the performers (Carlos Santana, Graham Nash, Paul Kantner, members of Sly & the Family Stone and many more) and people who worked behind the scenes.

Today’s podcast looks at Miles Davis’ background and what led to his own musical changes in 1959. Davis actually recorded two groundbreaking records that year – “Kind of Blue” and “Sketches of Spain.” Journalist Ben Ratliff adds how these records helped to change how people listened to Jazz, and Carlos Santana remembers what Bill Graham told him about “Sketches of Spain.”
