Nina’s friend, poet Camille Yarbrough, will always remember three phone calls from the FBI (including one at 3am), asking what she knew about Nina’s “business.”  Her response is priceless.

This episode also includes pieces of some of Nina’s best-known original songs – “Backlash Blues,” “Mississippi God Damn,” and “Revolution” (credited as a Nina Simone composition, though clearly borrowing from The Beatles).   These and other songs can be heard with the Rhapsody Playlist link below.
